MIX & MATCH RISO JAM w/ THE HAPPY CLUB

The Happy Club is an open Riso print and design studio in Munich. It runs on one belief: creativity loves company. The Riso is how. A Riso is a stencil printer with a mind of its own, an old photocopier that lays down bright, uneven spot colours one layer at a time. It pulls everyone out of their own echo chamber and makes them equal, because it never quite does what you tell it. It misregisters, it surprises you, sometimes it disappoints, and often it lands somewhere better than the plan. So you take the wrong turn on purpose, you talk to the person next to you, you try the thing you would not try alone. Workshops, open studio, print runs, shop. A club without a bouncer, Permanent Beta. It's time to play.

Behind it is Michi Huml, a designer and illustrator whose work starts a conversation. Bold and colourful, but it never shouts or over-explains. It asks a question, always with a twist, most of the time with a bit of humour. Her favourite move is turning ideas into products and places people can join and shape. The Club is one of the places.

The Mix & Match calendar is one of the products. A Happy Club community project, more than 70 artists joined in four years, now in its fifth edition. At Forward you make your own, all by hand. We lay out tools and a full collage table, you compose on paper, and we run it through the Riso. Digital? Analog! Work on your own or over a layer someone left before you, and take your print home as a poster. Every print also becomes part of the Mix & Match Forward edition, a small run we make on-site from everyone who joins. And if you want your own calendar, we punch it by hand at the booth and mix your motif with eleven prints from the official fifth edition, Mix & Match 2027, the first public look at edition five, only at Forward. The poster is free. The calendar is a Forward exclusive.
