My Favourite (Un)realized Project: Journey to PRESENT

A talk about making better mistakes and achieving your wildest dreams, with practical steps and transparency, illustrated by my journey from childhood to today. How hardships and challenges pushed me towards finding my path and my life’s work of supporting modern makers.

Hugo Hoppmann, born in Cologne in 1988, is a distinguished designer and creative director celebrated for his work with elite clients. His upbringing in a family of artisans fostered a deep appreciation for art and design, guiding him towards studies at ECAL and a career marked by creativity and innovation.

After roles at prestigious firms, his work spanned diverse projects for global brands, eventually leading to the founding of his brand and magazine, Present. His achievements include rebranding Salomon and contributing to Apple’s iPhone Pro team, highlighting his significant impact on contemporary design.

Currently, he directs his creative vision towards consulting for fashion and technology initiatives, advising on design and strategy while continuing to expand Present’s global influence. He has worked with clients like Mugler, Apple, Nike, Prada, and 032c, and was invited to speak at Apple and Yale University.

Hugo is the founder and publisher of Present, a global platform and community of makers and builders, with a print magazine sold in 20 countries across five continents.
