MEDIA ART (AUT) Total View is a media art collective founded in 2024 that develops digital tools to investigate state repression and cultural assimilation.
The media art and research collective Total View was founded in 2024 by the artist trio Ferdinand Doblhammer, Ulrich Formann and the Futile Corporation to develop new digital methods for investigating state repression and forced cultural assimilation.
The collective functions as an interdisciplinary hub for exchange between artists, journalists and researchers. Total View collaborates with institutions such as the University of Vienna and the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
At the Forward Festival, the collective Total View presents their project Sensing Sinicization, which explores state-led cultural assimilation in China. Using pattern recognition on millions of Street View images, they reveal new visual strategies for documenting repression and discuss alternative methods of investigative art.
