Vitra Design Museum exhibits the ECAL graphic design stars of tomorrow

Opening on the 22nd October 2016 until 8th January 2017, Vitra Design Museum will showcase an exhibit of work from the iconic design school, in ECAL Graphic Design. Type, Print, Digital, Stories.

These students are the design stars of the future, whether it’s “the design of books, catalogues, magazines or posters – ECAL students are able to embrace all facets of the discipline.”

ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne has long been recognised as a world reference in terms of – amongst others – graphic design. Be it in designing books, catalogues, magazines or posters, typography or digital projects, ECAL students are able to embrace all fields of this discipline and masterfully perform a wide variety of assignments. This success is largely based on a policy of workshops allowing them to learn from the best Swiss or international graphic designers directly on the school premises.

With this in mind, ECAL has had the good fortune of welcoming leading figures such as Ludovic Balland, Bibliothèque, Mirko Borsche, Thomas Buxo, Veronica Ditting, Europa, Johann Kauth, Jürg Lehni, Ari Marcopoulos, Maximage, Young Na Kim, NORM, OK-RM, Brian Roettinger, Hansje van Halem, Cornel Windlin and Job Wouters aka Letman in recent years.

The exhibition and accompanying book, ECAL Graphic Design is an opportunity to scope the upcoming trends of graphic design but also spot the scholars who will design the world around us in years to come. The work runs alongside a selection of ECAL publications and design compendiums presenting the internationally renowned heritage of Swiss graphic design education.The exhibit is a celebration of the graphic design we encounter everyday, “whether in magazines and books, on posters or on the internet.”
