The 8th talk of the talk series “We Are So” by the Creative Region Upper Austria is taking place on the 13th September at the Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria. And it’s all about publishing and online journalism. How do readers use online media? How do magazines and newspapers react to the changes? “We are so publishing” tries to answer all these questions and you should definitely not miss out on that!

Weltformat Graphic Design Festival

 

Weltformat is celebrating its 10th anniversary! A milestone that invites to look back and into the future – and which comes along with some innovations; the poster festival has become a graphic design festival with a new visual appearance and its own festival app, that accompanies visitors through the exhibitions. Another novelty: the festival-spanning theme. They ask themselves: Now What?! and are interested in the presence, the past, turning points and outlooks.

Indiecon Hamburg

If you are in Hamburg, should definitely stop by Indiecon – The Independent Magazine Festival this September! The fifth edition of the festival is all about indie mags which cross the lines between print media, digital worlds and real places. With lots of interesting speakers and spaces for exchange and networking, this is definitely an event you shouldn’t miss!

World Press Photo 18 Exhibtion

Once again, the best press photography from all over the world is exhibited at the Westlicht in Vienna. The dominating topics this year are the rising nationalism in the US, the protests against the government in Venezuela, the was in Northern Iraq and the fate of refugees after their arrival in Europe. Overall, 42 photographers from 22 different countries were honored in 8 different categories. A must-see this fall in Vienna!

“50 Jahre nach 50 Jahre Bauhaus 1968” Conference

 

This conference picks up on central themes of the accompanying exhibition, the “50 Jahre nach 50 Jahre Bauhaus 1968” exhibition in Stuttgart. With Bauhaus-experts Patrick Rössler (professor at the university of Erfurt), or Marion von Osten (curator of the project “Bauhaus Imaginista”) it also aims to go a little deeper than just the exhibition standing alone. A must-see event for every Bauhaus fan!

Waves Festival Vienna

This year, the Waves Vienna Music Conference, organized by Waves Vienna and Austrian Music Export, will take place for the 8th time. Hundreds of national and international music experts, organizers, label owners, bookers, and musicians will meet during the day for discussion and networking at Vienna’s WUK. In the evening they will have the chance to see performances of around 100 new upcoming bands at the public music festival. Check out this festival and discover your next favourite band!
