The subtitle of this exhibition says it all: “Art and activism in the UK 1970-1990”. In this exhibition, artworks in mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture, performance, film and photography are shown. Many pieces are on display for the first time since the 70s.

Polaroids

 

 

Polaroid has fascinated photographers and amateurs alike since the technology was developed in 1937. Organized by the Helmut Newton Foundation, this exhibition features Polaroids by Newton among works by Robert Mapplethorpe, Mary Ellen Mark, David Hockney, Ulay, Carlo Mollino, Luigi Ghirri, Maurizio Galimberti and Hannah Villiger.

Talking Bodies – Body Images in the Poster

 

 

The body has been a prominent subject for posters, especially when it comes to advertising. However, the kind of body which has been and still is visible, is mostly young, white, attractive – a stereotype which never represented the true beautiful diversity of the human body. This exhibition questions those propagated body images and their impact on our culture, our social life and even politics.

Curator Laura Amann has created an exhibition with works by international artists who reflect on the organs which are still subject of censorship – especially those of women – while being omnipresent.
