Ferry Gouw is an illustrator, graphic designer, and video director. When he was 15 he moved from Indonesia to London. He studied Art and Design at Central St Martins, before completing his Masters degree in Filmmaking at Mike Leigh’s London Film School. His style is heavily influenced by his comic book background. So it isn’t surprising that his favourite illustrator is cartoonist Al Columbia and his favourite graphic designer is Chip Kidd, whose book covers are famous for not carrying a signature look.

Ferry produced music videos for several bands in the UK indie music scene, including Lightspeed Champion. He is the former art director of Major Lazer. Ferry directed and illustrated their first three albums, designing all aspects of their visual output from the character designs, record sleeves, posters, merch, to music and lyric videos. One of them was nominated for the Breakthrough Video award in the MTV Video Awards. He was also the art director of the Major Lazer cartoon TV show, showing on FXX in 2014. Ferry is the in-house designer for James Blake’s label and club night 1800-Dinosaur, as well as having worked for Bryan Ferry, Sean Paul, and brands such as Stussy, Levi’s, and Bacardi, amongst others.
