Alexandre Bavard is a French visual artist whose practice spans sculpture, painting, installation, performance and video. Emerging from graffiti under the name MOSA 87 and trained at École Boulle and the École des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, he explores the gesture of writing, erasure and the traces left by urban environments.
His work investigates how acts of marking, disappearance and memory shape both individual and collective histories. Drawing on archaeology, mythology and contemporary cityscapes, he transforms fragments, casts and surfaces into sculptural forms that question the tension between permanence and disappearance.
Through projects including BRAV, Passerelle, Temps Mort and Agora, Bavard investigates the contemporary condition through questions of revolt, memory and collective rituals. His work explores the city as a space where gestures, traces and acts of erasure reveal the social tensions, shared histories and invisible structures that shape our everyday lives.
His work has been presented internationally in museums, institutions, galleries and biennials across the world.
Alexandre will speak and perform at Forward Festival Berlin.
