Esra Gülmen

Final Destination: Artist?

 

Esra Gülmen (1986, Istanbul) is a visual artist and designer. Previously, she worked as a head of design at Heimat, Berlin as well as Ogilvy. She is still a member of ADC Germany. Esra was selected four times in a row as part of the “200 Best Illustrators” Worldwide by Lürzer’s Archive Magazine.

 

After studying interior design, she worked as an assistant professor, taught basic design at Marmara Fine Arts Faculty. After 2 years of working as an academic, she moved to Germany and started her new career as an art director and designer at Ogilvy Frankfurt. Later on she switched over to Ogilvy Amsterdam. She has won many international awards including Cannes Lions, D&AD, One Show, Eurobest, Epica, LIA, ADC Germany.

 

Her artworks evolve around human psychology and the tiny struggles of everyday life. For Esra, practicing art is a form of self therapy and she has exhibited her art in many group shows and opened three solo shows so far in Amsterdam, Hamburg and Berlin.
