Climate change is here to stay. 2020 has not only been the year of COVID but also the year of natural disasters. Floods, forest fires, extreme temperatures – the list goes on and on. Feeling helpless in this mess? The Green Energy Lab has made it their mission to come up with innovative solutions to create a more sustainable future and is looking for creative minds to get involved. Don ´ t miss the chance to win 10K prize money!

As Greta Thunberg once said: “There is no planet B.” Well, we agree. That’s why we have made thinking forward our priority. Thinking forward is not limited. It is not just about being creative, it is about creating something that matters for now and for our future. And when thinking forward there is no way around sustainability or green energy solutions to keep our planet alive.

The forward-thinking minds at Green Energy Lab, Austria’s biggest innovation lab, constantly work for a brighter and therefore more sustainable future. Their goal: To create an energy system with 100% renewable energies. In order to bring their vision to life, Green Energy Lab has a big network of partners that are trying to get Austria to think greener. Their projects are all about renewable heating, spatial energy, or e-mobility, that get implemented and tested in wide regions of Austria.

To keep on moving forward, the initiative is always looking for creative minds and therefore hosting a Green Future Hackathon on November 4th and 5th at Palais Berg in Vienna!
These two days are all about working together towards sustainable energy system solutions. And as it is 2020, the way to do so, is a hackathon.

At the hackathon computer programmers, software developers, project managers, or graphic designers work together to create new strategies around green energy. After keynotes and workshops on the topic, the interdisciplinary teams try to come up with ideas and specific solutions within 24 hours. After one day full of ideas, sweat, and tears, it is time to present their approaches to the expert jury.

Sounds good? It does even get better: there is 10.000€ prize money for the winning teams and the possibility to work with one of the leading companies in the business. Plus, it is a real chance to make a change!
